CNA Practice Tests by State and Content Domain
Every state nurse aide competency exam includes a written (knowledge) test built on the same core content: physical care skills, basic nursing skills, psychosocial care, and the role of the nurse aide. Testing is run by a state-contracted vendor, so formats and fees differ by state. Pick a state for local exam facts, or jump straight into a content domain below.
States now live
Additional states are in production. The core question bank follows the public exam content outlines used nationwide, so any live state’s practice tests are valid study material wherever you test.

What the real test looks like
Depending on your state and its testing vendor, the written exam is typically 60 to 120 multiple-choice questions with four answer choices each, taken together with a hands-on clinical skills evaluation. Passing scores are set by each state — commonly around 70–75% where they are published, and some states do not publish a cut score at all. Questions cover resident care skills, safety, infection control, resident rights, and communication — exactly the topics drilled here, each with a written explanation.
